Then read more about Sheri Rosen receiving the 2007 Fellow award from the International Association of Business Communicators... Sheri Rosen received the Fellow award in June from the International Association of Business Communicators. The IABC Fellow award is the highest honor the association can bestow on an individual, and only 53 people internationally had been named Fellow since the award's inception in 1970. It acknowledges contribution to the organizational communication field and profession; career achievement; authorship, speaking and lecturing; contributions to IABC; and other professional recognition such as community activities and other business-related activities. Sheri Rosen manages employee communication for Frost, a financial services company in San Antonio, where she is a vice president. She has published more than 150 articles about business communication in trade and professional publications. She has won more than 50 communication awards, including multiple IABC Gold Quill awards and the IABC Chairman's Award. Sheri was a trailblazer in bringing the world of new technology to communicators in terms that related to their jobs. Her column in IABC's Communication World, "Digital Knowledge," was the first of its kind in 1984 and appeared until 2002. She moderated CompuServe's Public Relations Special Interest Group online forum, the forerunner of IABC's MemberSpeak. In 1994, she helped develop her employer's prototype intranet â€" just months after the World Wide Web interface was created and before the term intranet was even coined. During her career, Sheri founded three businesses, consulting on employee communication, new technology for public relations, and publishing. She also worked for associations and publishers and in financial services, energy, and health care companies from California to Connecticut to Japan. She has managed communication planning and research, and she has written and produced print, video, and online media. She particularly enjoys building communication infrastructures and conceiving new programs. Over the years, Sheri shared her knowledge as a top-rated speaker for IABC, Ragan Communications, International Quality & Productivity Center, Best Practices in Corporate Communication, and many other groups. Her leadership, passion and vision revived the San Antonio chapter from being disbanded, steering it to win IABC's Small Chapter of the Year Award in 2005. She served on the boards of four additional chapters where she earned volunteer- and communicator-of-the-year recognition. She has a long list of IABC international and region positions. For a variety of community, church and non-profit associations, Sheri has volunteered her time and communication expertise. Sheri earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Trinity University and a master in administration degree in communication management from the University of the Incarnate Word. Her master's thesis, completed in 2006, examined "Excellence in Employee Communication in Small Companies as Compared with Large Companies." In addition, Sheri is an Accredited Business Communicator. |
